In the Gospel according to St. Matthew, the Lord’s Prayer is the centerpiece of the Sermon on the Mount. In the New Testament, we find Jesus teaching the Lord’s Prayer to his disciples in the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew’s gospel and in the eleventh chapter of the Gospel according to St. Luke, when his disciples in St. Luke’s gospel come to Jesus and say to him, “Lord, teach us to pray as John”

“John the Baptist” “taught his disciples.”

And in St. Luke’s gospel, the Lord responds and says to them, “When you pray, say,” and then he gives the Lukan version of the Lord’s Prayer, which is different from Matthew. The words are different.
