By tracing in many non-violent campaigns from classical times to the present, the author challenges the "just war" concept and claims the Church must explore the potential of non-violence as a means of opposition to evil and oppression. The example given by such campaigners as Gandhi and Martin Luther King is discussed in detail, and the point is made that, far from being an easy option, non-violence requires strength and courage. This is the author's first book in many years; he has also written "Rich Christians in an Age of Hunger" and "Living More Simply".
